Reflux was a five piece cover band based in Exeter playing a variety of rock, blues, pop & funk cover songs from the past half century plus original material.Reflux played pub gigs, clubs and private parties. Reflux were rockin' & rollin', loud, tight, mean and ugly - you would have like us. Sadly, after a lovers' tiff, Reflux split on the 16th January 2004. Here's a few happy memories. |

Formed initially at an impromptu jam session at a friend's birthday party in 1999 two of the initial five members of the band quickly fell by the wayside content with an evening's enjoyment. The remaining three members having rekindled memories of past musical dabblings were keen to form a regular gigging cover band. We were shortly joined by a singer/songwriter/guitarist introducing some original material thus forming the original incarnation of the band Reflux. The band started to rehearse on a regular basis in 2000 and began looking for gigs principally as a cover band. Various changes to line-up have occurred since then although the core membership has been remained constant. Our musical backgrounds are varied and include a wide range of influences including rock, blues, pop and funk from which we have built a broad repertoire of cover songs and some original material. Our material spans six decades of music. From our repertoire we can provide live music to suit any occasion whether this is a pub gig, party, wedding or whatever. We are constantly updating our repertoire with new material. Reflux band members are:- Tim (golden tonsils) Royston (singer and shaker of various objects) is our newest member and has given Reflux a real lift. Tim is a great frontman with a warm, outgoing personality and a great voice. He has introduced much new material especially songs from the 1980s and 1990s. John Saddler (singer, guitarist, keyboards, blues harp) has been with Reflux almost since the beginning (of time). John covers singing duties with Tim and guitar and keyboards with Reuben. John is a great multi-intrumentalist who tends to hide his light under a bushel. John has also written many original songs of diverse styles. Reuben Ayres (guitar and keyboards) is a founder member of Reflux. Having played in various bands in the past including a Grendle (folk-rock), Al Et Al (folk), The s (punk) and musical revue orchestra, his musical background is broad if somewhat querky for someone whose first musical love is Rock. Originally a keyboard player, Reuben now spends most of his time on the guitar. Nick Mathieu (bass) joined Reflux shortly after John. Having played with several other bands as well as Reflux, Nick probably has the greatest live musical experience and is definitely our musical disciplinarian. Nick's scowl is now legendary. Nobody scowls at Nick because he never seems to make a mistake. Annoying that. Richard Berrisford (drums) is a founder member of Reflux. With diverse a musical background including jazz, funk and classical music, Richard brings a wide range of drumming styles to Reflux. Steady as a rock and flamboyant as 'a really flamboyant thing,' Richard is the motor inside Reflux.
